Fingerprints focus of celebrity appearance at TL-M
Ashley Young, Miss
North Dakota 2007, made fingerprints a focus of her personal
appearance at TL-M School on Monday, May 5, but not in the usual
sense. The fingerprints that Young addressed were the ones that
every person’s actions and words leave on those around them.
Young gave an outstanding presentation on bullying and the
responsibility of students to stop bullying. She asked them to
look around and see how many there were of them, and then to
also count the teachers. The question that followed was whether
they thought that there was a better chance that their numbers
in action could have more of an impact on bullying than what the
fewer teachers could do. The students replied in affirmation
that they could, and should, be positive actors in the struggle
against bullies. The students also learned the difference
between physical and emotional bullying and the effect is has on
victims.
TL-M 2008 Congressional hearing held April 29
Panel judges quizzed the congressional hearing participants from
TL-M fifth grade on April 29 at the Ed Rath TL-M school
gymnasium. Mrs. Sharon White again welcomed back Mr. Keith
Sundquist, teacher, and Mrs. Karen Boyko, elementary principal,
who have both been with the program since it started, and this
year, Brian Kramer, was the third member of the panel. Music,
from voice to percussion rhythm helped set the tone for the more
serious question and answer bouts with the constitutional
issues.
